ISRO's Indian satellite GSAT-16 in French Guiana ahead of December launch Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch the GSAT-16 satellite in December to replace the INSAT-3E satellite as the pioneer Indian communications satellite orbiting the Earth. The satellite is in French Guiana at the moment and it is on the way to Kourou space port before it is launched into space in December. The 3.15 ton satellite will be launched Arianespace, an European launch service, and it will be flown by the Ariane-5 launcher which is named flight VA221. The payload of the GSAT-16 satellite is a C-band transponder and a Ku-band transponder which supports very small aperture terminal (VSAT) services along with emergency communication services and television facilities for India.   More
